Gardaí have launched a manhunt for a prisoner who escaped this afternoon after stabbing two prison officers in Dublin.
It’s understood that the man was at Tallaght Hospital when he escaped from custody, with RTÉ reporting that the prisoner produced a knife after arriving for treatment under escort.
He is believed to have stabbed one officer in the arm and wounded a second in the stomach before making his getaway on a motorbike, driven by an accomplice.
Gardaí have now released a photo of prisoner Derek Brockwell, who is from the UK and had been serving a seven-year sentence for armed robbery at Portlaoise Prison, after previously receiving a life sentence.
