Two men have reportedly been arrested in connection with the shooting of Garda Brian Hanrahan in New Orleans.
According to reports, the Limerick garda was shot in the back last week while on holiday in New Orleans.
It has been stated that the New Orleans police department have made two arrests in connection to the shooting and that the two people in custody are believed to be brothers.
It was reported that the two men were trying to take money from the Irish man.
Garda Hanrahan was brought to hospital where he is reported to be recovering from the incident.
A number of fundraisers are taking place to help the family with any medical or travel costs with a coffee morning being held today at Henry Street garda station in Limerick.
