Celebrate your country, but for the love of God, stay in.
Today is St Patrick’s Day – a point in time that is traditionally reserved for dressing in green, going out, and having a few pints with the lads.
And while doing the former is still totally acceptable within the confines of your own home, it’s the going out for the few pints that has unfortunately been compromised this year.
But despite all of the disappointment, doom, and gloom, there remains the knowledge that as a nation, we must all band together, protect one another, and stay the fuck in.
Sure, you wouldn’t be going to the parade anyway, lads. That’s just for tourists.
And so, in order to deal with the lack of social interactions that each and everyone of us are going to be having on this here day of St Patrick, people have been taking to Twitter to share their patriotism instead.
Because after all, logging in is the new going out.
Whether at home, or abroad. With your family & friends, or missing them terribly. Whether you're Irish or not. We wish you & yours a Happy #StPatricksDay. #LáFhéilePádraig shona daoibh go léir. A little hope. Hundreds of iconic buildings around the world will shine green lights in the global darkness for St Patrick's Day… https://t.co/mfH6Lv7kA2 #StPatricksDay #GlobalGreening pic.twitter.com/7D6trA9KXy

The strangest St Patrick's Day in memory.
No parade, no pubs, no parties.
The best thing to capture the spirit of unity of the day is to keep it up.
We're in it together.
Beannachtaí na Féile oraibh go léir.#StPatricksDay

Happy #StPatricksDay from Ireland! Here’s a group of my photographs celebrating the Emerald Isle. It will be a quiet one today, but across the planet there are a 100 million people of Irish descent & billions more who are quietly celebrating Ireland’s national day! pic.twitter.com/sP8tM8sx4K

Let’s stand together. Apart. Let’s sing Oró Sè do bheatha ‘bhaile on doorsteps & out windows at noon. Pass this to people not on twitter. Let’s send a message to the world on this #StPatricksDay : We will prevail. @MarianKeyes #virtualpaddysday2020 #CoronaIreland #coronavirus pic.twitter.com/buIkiD1uxr
