He was on holiday in Cyprus
A British tourist is fighting for his life after trying to jump into a pool from a balcony while on holiday in Cyprus.
The 56-year-old attempted to make the jump from the balcony to the pool, but slipped as he leapt, landing on the pavement of his villa instead of the pool.
The incident took place in Pegeia, in Cyprus, near Paphos.
The holidaymaker was quickly rushed from the villa to the Accident and Emergency Department at Paphos General Hospital in serious condition.
Media in Cyprus has reported that the man was put into an intensive care unit due to the severity of his injuries.
It is understood he was on holiday with friends when the accident happened.
This comes after a summer of tragic accidents of people suffering fatal falls while on holiday.
Two deaths came within a week in late August in two separate incidents.
The first saw a 28-year-old British tourist die after falling 15 feet from a hotel on the island of Majorca after the man had returned to his accommodation after a night out partying.
