A toddler has sadly died in a tragic accident in West Cork.
Gardaí confirmed the infant passed away on Wednesday, January 25th.
They were called to a house in Skibbereen shortly after 9 pm.
They have not revealed the child's age but confirmed he was a young boy.
A post-mortem is due to take place at Cork University Hospital.
Gardaí also confirmed that foul play is not suspected.
A Garda spokesperson told The Independent;
“The Coroner (for West Cork) has been notified and a post-mortem will be held at Cork University Hospital,” Gardaí said.
"Gardaí are currently treating the death as a tragic accident and foul play is not suspected. Owing to the tragic nature of the incident no further information is available.”
