About time! You can now apply for a driving licence online

Rebecca O'Keeffe

No more waiting in a queue for hours!

It seems kind of trivial, but we all know the pain of trying to get a driving licence.

Whether your getting your first one, or renewing for the millionth time (guilty), the struggle is too real.

Firstly, you have to fill out that blasted form. If you’ve lost your licence – you also need to nip down to the guards for a signature.

Then, the fun begins.

After gathering your forms, you have to head off to the office, where you’ll wait for hours to get seen to.

Then, you sit down, go through it all with the lady behind the glass, pose for a picture – and off you’ll go.

However, in a wonderful turn events – you can now handle the whole process online!

ABOUT BLOODY TIME.

In order to renew your licence (provisional or otherwise) you will need a Public Service Card.

Handy thing to have anyway, and you can apply for one in your local Intreo office.

Once you have a card, you need to set up a MyGovID and have at it!

The process is simple, and very easy to follow.

Once completed, you submit your application, which you can keep an eye on through the website.

And all going well, the shiny piece of plastic will arrive to your door in no time.

Welcome to 2018, lads.
