The three relatives killed in Tipperary crash have been named locally

The three victims of the road crash in Tipperary on Tuesday night, August 29th have been named locally.

As reported in multiple outlets, Tom O’Reilly, his wife Bridget (both in their 40s) and their grandson Tom (3) died after the car they were travelling in hit a wall in the Windmill Knockbulloge area of Cashel shortly before 9 pm.

The man who was driving and a female front seat passenger (both in their 20s), later confirmed to be the infant’s parents, remain in serious condition at Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has offered his “sincere condolences” to the friends and family of those who passed away in the Tipperary crash.

“May they rest in peace,” he said, before adding: “My thoughts are with everyone in Tipperary with this awful news coming so soon after the tragic deaths in Clonmel.”

Tánaiste Micheál Martin also wrote: “Devastating loss of life near Cashel last night.

“The enormous sense of shock and grief in the community is shared by people across the country.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family who have suffered so much, their neighbours and friends.”

The incident in Cashel happened just days after another crash in Clonmel in Tipperary which claimed the lives of four young people.

Following Tuesday night’s collision, an incident room has been established at Cahir Garda Station and a Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the probe into how it happened.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the latest Tipperary crash to contact the investigation team.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Windmill Knockbulloge area near Cashel between 8.30 pm and 9.15 pm yesterday evening are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí,” a spokesperson said.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cahir Garda station on 052 617 7640, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
