The medals just keep on coming for the Irish Paralympic team as another three are added to their amazing tally.
Tandem pairing Catherine Walsh and Fran Meehan pedalled their way to silver in the women’s individual B pursuit final yesterday in the Velodrome.
Walsh admitted that their achievement has helped with disappointment earlier in the week: ‘The team had a couple of fourths so it was hard during the week. We were able to finish off what we said we were going to do.’

And it wasn’t just on the bicycles that the Irish athletes were enjoying success. Helen Kearney bagged Ireland’s first Equestrian medal on her horse, the aptly-named Mister Cool.
She won silver with a score of 76.7% which also helped the Irish team to a bronze medal in the Para Equestrian Dressage in the championships.

Yesterday’s achievements have taken the country’s medal count up to seven with four gold, two silver and one bronze. Ireland is currently sitting in tenth place in the table for gold medals.
