Thousands of people marched to Mountjoy Prison in Dublin today in protest against the jailing of five anti-water protestors earlier this week.
The campaign, which is getting massive traction on Twitter under the hashtag #FreeThe5 has seen furious protestors call for the release of those who were arrested on Thursday for contempt of court.
According to the courts and further reports, the five had defied a court order to come within a 20-metre exclusion zone set up around water installation.
Protests took place across Dublin and in Tasoiseach Enda Kenny’s constituency of Castlebar in Co. Mayo.
The Dublin protest reportedly saw over 7,000 people march through the centre of Dublin to Mountjoy Jail.
