Here’s what you need to know about the newborn baby grant
The newborn baby grant is set to be rolled out this week with over 4,000 new parents receiving the payment.
In Budget 2025, the Government confirmed a bonus payment would be given to new parents.
They confirmed that parents who welcome babies from December 1st, 2024 would be awarded the Newborn Baby Grant.
The aim of the grant is to help parents with covering baby expenses following their child’s birth.
Anyone who welcomes a child from December 1st will receive the payment but the amount differs depending on how many children you welcome.
The grant of €280 will be paid to new parents born or adopted on or after December 1st, 2024.
The payment is €280 per child but it will be €560 if you have twins, and €840 for triplets.
4,400 parents are expected to receive the payment this week.
All of the parents have been advised of the payment of the new grant.
Speaking about the payment, Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary stated:
“I am delighted that this week will see the rolling out of the first of the Newborn Baby Grants that were announced as part of Budget 2025.
“This means that families of newborns will receive their Newborn Baby Grant payments today.
