We love pizza. We love pizza so much that we’d happily eat it every single day for the rest of our lives. If you share our crazed adoration of the food, then you’ll be pleased to hear the following news: ladies, they’ve invented a healthy pizza.
Yes! A healthy pizza! We don’t know about you, but we’re inclined to think that this is the greatest news in the history of all time.
The Irish Daily Mail reports that scientists claim that they have finally managed to make the world’s first nutritionally balanced pizza. The pizza is low-fat and contains 30 per cent of your daily recommended intake of vitamins and minerals. There’s just one catch – it’s made out of seaweed.
Eh…we’re sure it’s delicious…right? Right?!
Apparently a tiny amount of seaweed is added to the pizza dough and it acts as a natural alternative to processed seasoning. Thanks to the seaweed, the pizza contains all the minerals that are generally lacking in the frozen pizzas you buy in the supermarket.
“One of the things that hit me early on is it is a big step forward if you simply make meals nutritionally balanced,” said Professor Mike Lean from Glasgow University, who created the recipe with businessman Donnie Maclean.
“Pizza is a pretty good choice. If you get the balance right, it’s not far off,” Professor Lean added.
The ‘Eat Balanced’ range of pizzas are topped with a special tomato sauce that has red peppers added to it – this helps to boost the Vitamin C element of the food. Various other vitamins and minerals are also included in the recipe.
So where can you get your hands on this wonder-pizza? Well it hasn’t hit our shores yet, but we imagine that it won’t be too long before it does.
Guilt-free pizza – we have to say we like this idea a lot…
