Investigations are ongoing.

A teenager in Louth has been left in hospital along with two adults after a petrol bomb went off early this morning.

A man is currently in a serious condition after he was badly burnt when the bomb went off at a house in Drogheda.

A woman in her 40s and the teenage girl were also injured in the blast and are receiving treatment in hospital due to smoke inhalation.

The incident occurred at around two in the morning and sources have said that those injured were “innocent victims.”

A source told The Irish Mirror: “The people in the house were not the targets of the petrol bomb.

“The male, who was lying on the couch in the front room bore the full blunt of the petrol bomb.

“He is in a serious condition in hospital. The house was completely gutted.”

Firefighters and emergency services were called to the scene at the home in St Finian’s Park shortly after the incident occurred.

The man who is believed to be in his 50s was taken to the burn unit at St James’s Hospital in Dublin, while the woman and the teenager are being treated at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Gardaí are now investigating whether the attack is linked to an incident in the Laurence Park area at around 3am when a car was damaged.

In a statement, the Gardaí confirmed that there was criminal damage done to the property and the car, but no arrests have been made yet.
