A teenager has died after an incident at the home of a senior garda in Co Waterford early this morning.
The garda went outside and was confronted by a number of youths after he and his wife heard glass breaking at their house in Dungarvan.
It is reported that there was a confrontation during which the off-duty officer was injured albeit not seriously. According to the Irish Times, a bottle was thrown at his head.
Following the altercation, the youths fled with one (18) running towards the Sea Park area. It appears he fell and injured himself. His body was later found in the water.
Gardaí have arrested two youths who are now being questioned about the incident. The Garda Ombudsman Commission is also investigating the matter.
