A high-school teacher charged with rape for allegedly having a sexual relationship with her 16-year old student has told a court how she ‘flipped out’ after learning he was taking another girl to the prom.

Joy Morsi, a gym teacher in Grover Cleveland High School, was charged with 20 counts each of third degree rape and criminal sexual acts for her alleged relationship with the student.

The 38-year old mother and wife admitted that the affair ended a few weeks previously, after Morsi revealed she got ‘jealous’ that the student was taking a fellow classmate as his date to the prom.

A second student has since stepped forward, claiming to have also had sex with the teacher.

Queens District Attorney, Richard Brown said Morsi faces up to four years in prison for endangering the welfare of a child if convicted.

Speaking to the court, the prosecution said:

“This defendant violated the teacher-student trust.”

Morsi’s husband is said to be standing in support of his wife during her trial.
