A student in her final year of a business degree collapsed and died during a lecture at the University of Limerick yesterday.
The woman who has been named as Rachael Hogan from Castletroy, Co.Limerick, was with her classmates when she collapsed at the college’s Kemmy School of Business, according to reports this morning.
The university doctor was at her side within minutes but 22-year-old Rachael could not be resuscitated.
Students’ union president Emma Porter said: “It is an absolute tragedy to lose someone so young. Our thoughts are with her family and friends during this terrible time.
“We would also like to remind all our students of the support services available to them on campus to help them in this stressful time.
“The chaplaincy, counselling service and our welfare office are available to all students, please do not hesitate to contact any of them.”
