An RTE documentary exposing the country’s sex trade, revealed that more than 700 women are advertised for sex every day in Ireland.

In the shocking expose, it emerged that at least 100 of these women are controlled by organised criminals.

RTE Investigates – Sex for Sale showed the girls being moved from brothel to brothel once a week.

Footage showed a group of women arriving on North King street every Tuesday and transferring money from a Western Union while being watched by suspected pimps, before swapping cars and being sent to brothels in Tallaght, Navan, Drogheda, Ardee and Cavan.

According to the Irish Mirror, Western Union said in a statement:

“All financial institutions are targeted by those who wish to channel funds for illicit purposes.

“We have… ongoing co-operation with police investigations in the fight against human trafficking.”

The RTE Investigations Unit found that 98 per cent of the women advertised are foreign, with the majority from Romania and Brazil.

Mayn women are sold for between €50 and €60 per half hour and as many as one in five clients insist on unprotected sex.
