Olympian Sharlene Mawdsley has announced the sudden passing of her father. Her dad, Thomas Mawdsley, died on June 3rd, 2025.
Sharlene confirmed the harrowing news in a statement on Instagram:
“I am devastated to say that my Dad has passed away.”
“I have no words right now to truly capture how I feel. I will forever love and miss him so much.”
“I would like to thank everyone who has been so kind and supportive at this time, from the emergency services to our great neighbours and wider community, and so many friends.”
“I would please ask the media, in particular, for privacy and understanding at this time.”
Mawdsley’s father's official death notice on RIP.ie reads:
“Thomas (Tucker) Mawdsley, Newport, Co. Tipperary. 3rd June, 2025, tragically. Predeceased by his father Tom and adored brother Billy.”
“Sadly missed and forever loved by his loving partner Louise, mother Sally, sons, daughters, grandchildren, siblings, and his extended family and wide circle of friends.”
“Reposing at Meehan’s Funeral Home, Newport on Friday 6th June, 2025 from 5.30 to 7.30 p.m. with Removal to the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer, Newport.”
“Requiem Mass on Saturday 7th June at 11.30 a.m.”
“Burial afterwards in Rockvale Cemetery Newport.”
“Family flowers only please donations if desired to the Irish Heart Foundation.”
“House Strictly Private please.”
