Saoirse Ronan and Jessie Buckley, two of Ireland's leading ladies, are teaming up for a highly anticipated new film.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Saoirse Ronan and Jessie Buckley are set to act alongside each other in the upcoming feature adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger’s bestselling novel Three Incestuous Sisters.
Josh O’Connor and Dakota Johnson are among the latest stars to join the ensemble, with filming slated for April.
Alice Rohrwacher will direct the film, working from a script she co-wrote with Ottessa Moshfegh, which is said to be loosely adapted from the book.
Due to its status as a loose adaptation, plot points are still being kept heavily under wraps.
Originally an illustrated novel, the book follows three sisters: Bettine, Ophile, and Clothilde.
A short description of the novel reads: "Living in isolation by the sea. Their intense, insular bond is shattered when a stranger, Paris, arrives, causing a passionate love affair, jealousy, and a dramatic, tragic turn of events."
The announcement follows Jessie Buckley’s recent award-season triumph, with the Irish star earning widespread acclaim for her performance in the Oscar-nominated film Hamnet.
Most recently, Saoirse Ronan starred in the critically praised The Outrun and is now filming Sam Mendes’ Beatles movie as Linda McCartney.
However, a release date for the upcoming feature adaptation of Three Incestuous Sisters is not yet known at this time.
