Polish police dispute Julia Wendell’s claims she is Madeleine McCann

Police in Poland have reportedly disputed Julia Wendell's claims.

Earlier this month, the young woman spoke out on social media and told her followers that she was missing girl Madeleine McCann. Julia Wendell garnered waves of attention online after she claimed to be the missing British girl, but police have shut down the claims. According to Global News, police do not believe she is the missing girl. They told the publication that they have "ruled out" her claims. Polish publication Gazeta also confirmed the news. Officers at Provincial Police Headquarters in Wroclaw also met with Julia's family last week. They ruled out the claims following this meeting. Her family told the Polish charity 'Missing Years Ago' that their daughter suffers from mental health issues. "We would like to take a stance on Julia's case, which has spread the Internet and media in many countries in recent days. For us, as a family, it is obvious that Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and step-niece. Her family confirmed they have pictures of Julia from her childhood. "We always tried to understand all situations that happened with Julia. Numerous therapies, medicines, psychologists, and psychiatrists - Julka had it all guaranteed. She wasn't left alone." Her family said they have been threatened since she claimed she was Madeleine McCann. They also said they've done everything they could to stop Julia, but she has refused. "We always tried to help her get back on her feet. Julia has been of age for several years." "She refuses treatment and also doesn't take medicines regularly. She also did not take advantage of the treatment opportunity at a very good center in Poland, which agreed to accept her." Her family stressed, "It's obvious that Julia isn't Maddie." They said they are devastated by the current situation.
