See, there are good people in the world.
Loneliness is a sad reality that many elderly people face, and simple gestures can make a huge difference.
Last week, police were called to a flat in Appio area of Rome after reports of noise disruption in the building, according to BuzzFeed.
When the police arrived, they found an elderly couple who were very upset.
Although the police may have expected domestic violence or a burglary when they arrived, they found that no crime had been committed.
The couple had been watching the news on TV when 84-year-old Jole asked her husband why there was so much sadness and hate in the world. She got so upset that she began crying so loudly that someone in the building called the police.
Jole and her 94-year-old husband Michele have been married for nearly 70 years and said that they rarely get visits from family or friends, which resulted in the couple feeling incredibly lonely.
The officers rang an ambulance, and while they could have left it at that, they instead decided to cook them a meal. The kitchen was sparse and didn’t show many signs of being used, so one of the officers cooked while the others sat at the table chatting to the couple.
The policeman served up a simple Italian dish of spaghetti parmesan.

The Rome police shared the story on their Facebook page which has amassed over 64,000 reactions and comments commending them on their efforts.
All we can say is Bravi Ragazzi!
If you’d like to help out the elderly there are some brilliant services in Ireland like ALONE who are always looking for volunteers to provide friendship and care for elderly people.
