“We love you Liam.”
One Direction have shared a heartbreaking message to Instagram following the news last night that their bandmate, Liam Payne, had died in Argentina.
Payne was found dead at a hotel in Buenos Aires on Wednesday night, with emergency services stating he fell from a third-floor balcony at the hotel.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Now, One Direction have shared a message on Instagram about their former bandmate.
The message reads: “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved deeply.
“The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever.
“For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly.”
The post concluded: “We love you Liam.”
Where did Liam Payne die?
Payne was found dead in a courtyard at the CasaSur hotel in the Palermo neighbourhood of Buenos Aires on Wednesday night, according to local authorities.
Payne had been in Argentina for the concert of his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan, the Sun reports.
Just days ago, he had shared a video on social media of him and his girlfriend enjoying the gig. Along with the clip, Payen also shared a snap of him and the Irish singer, with the caption “reunited”.
After the news of his death broke, there were emotional scenes outside the Hotel CasaSur as fans gathered to pay tribute to the singer.
The likes of Jedward, Paris Hilton and Charlie Puth have also paid tribute to the singer.
Speaking on This Morning on Thursday, X Factor host Dermot O’Leary said: “I just thought of his family, I thought of his son and then I thought of his parents. I mean no parent should have to bury their son or their daughter.
“Obviously our thoughts and our prayers, our candles are half-lit for his family. That goes without saying.”
A source close to Payne’s ex-girlfriend Maya Henry told the Daily Mail she was “obviously in shock.”
He has a seven-year-old son, Bear, who he shares with Girls Aloud star and ex-wife Cheryl Cole.
