Let it snow.
Given the fact that it’s been a bit ‘fresh’ over the last week or so, Ladbrokes have cut odds on their being a White Christmas across Ireland this year.
Dublin hasn’t seen snow on Christmas morning since 2010 but those odds have now dropped back to 5/1, while Cork, Knock and Shannon are all available at 4/1, down from 5/1.
Belfast, at 3/1, offers the shortest odds in the country that snow will fall on 25 December.
Last year Met Éireann calculated that, statistically, snow falling at Dublin airport on Christmas day occurs approximately every 5.9 years.
The last significant covering occurred during the Big Freeze of 2010.
Hayley O’Connor of Ladbrokes said: “Frosty weather has people dreaming of a white Christmas and interest in the betting has increased over the past couple of days.
“Records over the past 70 years show punters could be on the money and another cold snap would certainly see the odds further on the slide.”
