Nurse arrested after child dies from poisoning in UK

A nurse has been arrested after the death of a child in the UK. According to reports, the nurse (27) has been accused of administering poison. The child, whose age has yet to be disclosed, died on Thursday, May 19th. The nurse worked at Birmingham Children's Hospital, but has been suspended. It is believed she was working in the hospital's ICU. Officers questioned the nurse, but have since released her. West Midlands Police issued a statement after arresting the nurse. "We have arrested a 27-year-old woman in connection with the death of an infant. "The child sadly passed away on Thursday at the hospital," they confirmed. "The woman was arrested at a property in the West Midlands area." She was arrested on suspicion of administering poison with intent to endanger life. "She has been released while the investigation continues." Investigating officers are also waiting for forensic test results. "The family of the child are being supported by specially-trained officers." The hospital contacted West Midlands Police following the death of the child. "The staff member involved has been suspended," the hospital announced. Staff at the hospital are said to be stunned. The hospital is offering support to the child's family during "this distressing time". They have also asked the public to respect the infant's family.
