Met Éireann has issued a status orange fog warning for the entire country this morning.
Issued in the early hours of 2am – this warning will stay in place until 10am and and even later in some parts of the country as the fog will linger due to the cold temperatures, cloud and mist.

The fog is expected to affect inland counties more than the costal areas and AA Roadwatch has reminded all motorists to be extra careful today and slow down.
This warning follows on from yesterday when the Gardaí posted a message urging commuters to take care as fog began to get heavy around 4pm.

Later on, temperatures are expected to range between 3C and 8C. Tonight however, is expected to be a cold one, after the fog clears temperatures are set to plummet to -2C.
