Motorists across the country are being warned to take extra care while driving this morning as conditions are reported to be extremely icy.
A snow and ice warning by Met Éireann has been upgraded to Status Orange and the national forecaster is predicting yet more wintry showers.
The warning is in place for counties Kildare, Laois, Longford, Westmeath, Wicklow and Meath.

Motorists in other areas including Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Louth and Connacht are also being advised to take care on the roads.
“The snow showers are going to continue,” said Eoin Sherlock from Met Éireann. “Coupled with strong winds, that could produce some pretty poor driving conditions at times, so let’s keep that in mind.”
MONAGHAN: Monaghan/Cootehill Rd is impassable this morn following heavy falls of snow. Use alternative route. http://t.co/rUFHT9oca8
