The mother of three-year-old Mikaeel Kular, has been charged in connection with his death.

Mikaeel had been missing from his home since last Wednesday; his body was discovered miles from his family home in Edinburgh.

The body was removed from a woodland area behind a building where it’s reported that Mikaeel’s mother Rosdeep Kular, used to stay. The property, on Dunvegan Avenue, is said to be occupied by Mikaeel’s aunt.

“During the course of today the investigation into the disappearance of Mikaeel Kular has continued at pace, centering on a number of locations in Edinburgh and Fife,” said Assistant Chief Constable Malcolm Graham, at a police press conference last night.

“Following formal identification, I can now confirm that a 33-year-old woman who was detained late on Friday evening has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Mikaeel.

“The woman is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.”

The young boy was reported missing by his mother on Thursday morning, which prompted a major search by both the police and local volunteers.
