More Than 3,200 People Confirmed Dead In Nepal

The death toll following a 7.9 magnitude earthquake in Nepal over the weekend has officially risen to 3,218. According to reports, around 90 people are also believed to have died in neighbouring countries India and China. In the Himalayas, hundreds of climbers are still trapped after a huge avalanche hit Mount Everest base camp, with 17 people killed on the mountain. More than 6,500 people were injured in the earthquake on Saturday. It has been reported that the death toll is likely to continue to rise as the rescue efforts continue. International assistance has been restricted due to a number of aftershocks closing off the airport in Kathmandu several times.
