The search for a missing two-year-old boy in France has been called off.
Police had been searching for a young boy named Émile after he went missing from his grandparents’ house in a small village near the Alps.
The young boy has been missing since Saturday and has still not been found. Officers confirmed the search was halted late last night.
Prosecutor Remy Avon confirmed the news. He told AFP:
“The judicial investigation into the causes of the disappearance will continue, in particular by analysing the considerable mass of information and elements collected over the past four days.”
He also cleared up reports about a blood stain that was found in a car and stressed that the blood was from an animal and not a human.
Police said there were “little to no clues” about the boy’s disappearance.
Émile’s grandparents realised he was missing on Saturday, July 8th. They were preparing to go on a family outing and realised Émile had wandered off when they went to put him in the car.
An extensive search was conducted in Le Vernet in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Over 500 people volunteered to help find Émile.
Police will continue the investigation into Émile’s disappearance.
