Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino has been released from prison

Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino has been released from prison, according to reports.

According to PEOPLEthe Jersey Shore star was released from Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in New York on Thursday.

He completed an eight-month sentence for tax evasion.

In a statement, he told the publication:

“We are elated to finally close this chapter of our life. Thank you to our family, friends and fans for the continuous love and support during this time, it brought us so much peace and comfort.

“We look forward to continuing our life as husband and wife and working on baby situations!

“We truly believe that the comeback is ALWAYS greater than the setback and we can’t wait to show the world ours.”

Sorrentino was sentenced in October last year. He was also ordered to deplete 500 hours of community service. He was given a fine of $10,000.

He has paid restitution in the amount of $123,913 already.

The 37-year-old and his older brother, Marc, were initially indicted in September 2014 for tax offences after they allegedly failed to properly pay taxes on $8.9 million-worth of income between the years 2010 and 2012.

In April 2017, they were indicted on additional charges including tax evasion and falsifying records.

In January 2018, Mike pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion.

Marc pleaded guilty to one count of aiding in the preparation of a false and fraudulent tax return. He was sentenced to two years in prison on Friday.

Mike first shot to fame as a member of the Jersey Shore cast in late 2009. The series ran for six seasons, ending in late 2012.
