Met Éireann have issued a status yellow low temperature/ice warning for 25 counties.
The new warning is in place for all of Munster, Connacht, and Leinster, while Cavan and Monaghan are also impacted.
The warning states that "temperatures will fall to minus 3 or minus 4 degrees tonight, coldest around dawn and staying below freezing until mid-morning on Sunday."
This updated warning is in place from 21pm on Saturday 18 January until 11am on Sunday 19 January.
In terms of the overall forecast, this afternoon is set to be cold, bright and mainly dry day with sunny spells.
There may be one or two isolated light showers in the north.
However, this evening will see frost developing quickly after dark. Tonight will be dry with clear skies and a widespread sharp or severe frost with some icy patches. Some patches of mist and fog will develop also.
Temperatures are expected to drop from zero to minus 4 degrees.
Thankfully, the frost, mist, and fog will slowly clear on Sunday morning.
In terms of the afternoon, Sunday is set to be dry and bright with sunny spells in most areas.
The temperature is also expected to rise with the mercury expected to be ranging from 4 degrees in Ulster to 8 degrees in Munster.
