Met Eireann forecast u-turn in conditions this weekend

It’s that time of the week again where our summer hopes of sunshine are hampered once again.

Met Eireann’s latest forecast shows the arrival of rain in place of what was supposed to be a lovely sunny weekend.

Not everyone’s time off with be interrupted by grey skies, some counties will continue to have a bright and warm few days.

Here’s the latest predictions from Met Eireann, which are definitely going to be subject to change:

Rain and drizzle in the south and east today, isolated showers and sunny spells elsewhere. Highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees in a light to moderate south to southwest wind.

Tonight

Scattered showers early tonight then mainly dry with clear spells overnight. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 12 degrees with light to moderate south to southwest winds at first, becoming calm later.

Thursday

Met Eireann says to expect sunshine and isolated showers, tomorrow, Thursday. Showers will become more frequent for a time in the northwest during the early afternoon and then extend southeastwards. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with a light to moderate westerly wind.

Scattered showers will mainly affect the north and west on Thursday night, with dry weather and clear spells across the rest of the country. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees with a light west to southwest wind.

Friday

A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, with some heavy ones possible in the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with mostly light to moderate west to northwest winds, increasing fresh later in the west and northwest.

Becoming mainly dry on Friday night, with some showers continuing in the north and west. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in a light to moderate northwesterly wind.

Saturday

Saturday morning will be generally dry with sunny spells although there will be some showers in the north and west. The showers will move southeastwards across the country during the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in a light to moderate northwesterly wind generally, fresh at times near coasts.

It will become dry early on Saturday night. Cloud will spread across the country from the west and outbreaks of rain and drizzle will develop over the western half of the country by morning. Light to moderate northwesterly winds will become west to southwesterly overnight. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees.

Sunday

Sunday morning will be cloudy with rain and drizzle, clearing to scattered showers and occasional sunny intervals in the afternoon. More rain will possibly move into northern areas later. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with light to moderate south to southwest winds becoming westerly and freshening through the day.
