Met Eireann forecast predicts summer sunshine and 23C heat this week

Spoiler alert, the rain comes back briefly at the end of the week!

Met Eireann’s latest forecast predicts warmer temperatures, blue skies and all-round mild conditions this week.

Top temperatures of 23C will be seen in the East of the country while further west and north will have quite a breeze.

Showery conditions will resume at the end of the week, but the weather will continue to improve after Friday.

Here’s what the Met Eireann forecast says:

Monday

Windy in the west and northwest with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, turning heavy at times this afternoon and evening. Drier across the rest of the country with sunny spells and scattered showers.

Highest temperatures of 17 to 23 degrees, warmest in the east. Moderate to fresh south to southwest winds, strong and gusty at times in the west and northwest.

Rain and drizzle at first in the west and northwest, clearing to scattered showers overnight but it will be dry in the southeast of the country.

Rather cloudy with some clear breaks. Moderate to fresh southwest winds will ease light to moderate overnight. Lowest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees.

Tuesday

Tomorrow will bring a mix of cloud and bright or sunny spells with scattered showers, mostly dry in southern counties.

Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees, warmest in the southeast, with light to moderate westerly breezes.

Mostly dry and clear conditions with just isolated showers at first, mainly in Atlantic areas. Turning cloudier overnight with some mist or fog patches forming, with a chance of some rain developing in the south.

Lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with very light southwest winds.

Wednesday

Scattered showers will develop during the day, with more persistent rain in the northwest later.

A good deal of cloud with some bright spells. Highs ranging 16 degrees in the west up to 21 degrees in the east. Light or moderate southwest winds.

Mainly dry overnight with isolated showers in the northwest. Partly cloudy with long clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with light westerly breezes.

Thursday

A good deal of dry weather with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Occasional showers likely in the north and west. Highs of 16 to 19 degrees generally with light or moderate westerly winds.

Friday

Showers mixed with dry and bright periods. Highs of 17 to 20 degrees with light to moderate northwest breezes.
