Mum pays tribute to her son following fatal Swords stabbing

“Our hearts are broken”

The mother of Marius Mamaliga has paid tribute to her son following his untimely death.

The 19-year-old died in hospital days after he was stabbed by a man in his 20s in Swords.

The stabbing occurred on February 23rd.

Marius was rushed to Beaumont Hospital but sadly died on Sunday, February 26th.

Speaking to Dublin Live, the teenager’s mother said their family is heartbroken.

His mother Inga said his family is devastated following his death.

She told the publication, “Our hearts are broken. It was such a shock. It’s so, so hard. We just got back from the hospital two hours ago.”

A GoFundMe has been set up to support Marius’s family during this harrowing time.

Over €19,000 has been raised so far.

His loved ones shared;

“Marius was loved by everyone around him and meant a lot to his friends.

“He never failed to make them laugh and was always there for them when they needed him. We all love him very much and may he forever be in our hearts.”

The funds raised will support Marius’s family “during these tough times”.

The funds will also go towards a memorial for Marius.

“Marius and his family had been my neighbours and close friends for many years, I grew up with Marius and spent most of my childhood with him, walking to and from school every day.

“He was always there for everyone during hard times. He’s made me who I am today and I will forever be grateful for his kindness and friendship.”

Donations will be used to support his family, as well as for his funeral.
