A 21-year-old man has been detained by police in the UK this evening in connection with the disappearance of Irish nurse Karen Buckley.
A major search for the Cork woman was launched in recent days when she failed to return to her Glasgow home after a night out with friends.
It was subsequently found that Karen Buckley left the Sanctuary nightclub with Alexander Pacteau, who has claimed that they had consensual sex at his home before she left at 4am on Sunday morning.
While police has earlier stated that Pacteau was not be treated as a suspect in her disappearance, forensic teams targeted a communal area outside his home earlier today and it has now been confirmed that an unidentified man has been detained by police.
Police have confirmed that they are following a “definite line of enquiry” in relation to the missing 24-year-old and have 12 hours to question the man.
