A man who was arrested and questioned over the murder of Kyran Durnin has been found dead.
The man was arrested last Thursday and questioned by Gardai before being released without charge on Friday, according to RTE News.
An Garda Síochána issued a statement reading: "Earlier today, Tuesday, 17th December 2024, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted following the discovery of a body of a male aged in his 30s in a domestic residence in Drogheda, Co Louth.
"The local Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged. The outcome of the post-mortem will determine the course of the investigation.
"No additional information is available at this time."
Kyran, who was eight, was reported missing in late August, though he had not been seen alive since May 2022.
The young boy is presumed dead.
Last week, Gardai searched a property and its adjoining gardens at a housing estate in Drogheda.
They said that the purpose of this search was to find evidence that would provide them with information on Kyran's whereabouts.
In a statement on Friday, they confirmed that the search had been stood down.
Another person, a woman in her 20s, was also arrested on suspicion of murder before being released without charge.
It's believed the woman was known to Kyran and was a person of interest in the case for some time.
