A 20-year old man accused of killing his roommate reportedly turned to Siri, asking for tips on where to hide a dead body.
Pedro Bravo is on trial charged with kidnapping, strangling and murdering his roommate and friend Christian Aguilar in September 2012. Evidence brought to the trial this week suggests that Bravo told Siri, “I need to hide my roommate”.
According to the Palm Beach Post, the question was asked of the iPhone app the same day Aguilar disappeared.
Siri responded with, "What kind of place are you looking for?" and offered four suggestions: "Swamps. Reservoirs. Metal Foundaries. Dumps."
Although this was Siri's response back in 2012, the service now answers with:
"I used to be able to answer this question."
Aguilar's body was found weeks later in a rural area of Levy County, Florida, on September 20th, 2012, buried in a shallow grave. Police say the victim disappeared after Bravo drove him to Best Buy to purchase a Kanye West CD.
The two, who shared a room together at the University of Florida in Gainesville, were believed to have gotten into an argument over Aguilar dating Bravo’s ex-girlfriend.
According to court reports, the police say the defendant also used his iPhone’s flashlight to help hide the body in the woods. Location-based data taken from Bravo’s phone also supports the claim and conflicts with Bravo's alibi.
The trial is expected to conclude next week.
