At just 16, Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai has inspired people across the world.

Standing on-stage at Glamour‘s Women of the Year awards in New York this week, no one received so much adoration than Malala, who caught the world’s attention when the Taliban shot her in the head in October 2012.

The young activist delivered a passionate speech, touching on the importance of childhood education and bravery.

“I believe the gun has no power at all” she said. “I believe the gun has no power because a gun can only kill. But a pen can give life.”
