Okay ladies, ‘fess up – how long did it take you to get ready for work this morning? We’re only asking because according to the results of a new survey, all of us make more of an effort on a Monday morning.

The Irish Daily Star reports that women take longer to get ready for work on a Monday morning than on any other day of the week. Apparently, on Mondays, we’re much more likely to devote a few extra minutes to doing our hair, picking our clothes and perfecting our make-up so we can make a good impression at the office.

However, our effort is short-lived and by the time Wednesday rolls around, 4 out of 10 of us, just couldn’t be bothered any more. Meanwhile, a further 4 out of 10 of the women surveyed also said that they were “too tired and stressed” to care about their appearance first thing in the morning – we can’t blame you girls, we’ve all been there…

The survey was carried out by skincare brand Simple and of the 2,000 professional women who were polled, 1 in 5 said that they had so much work to do, they didn’t have the time to get ready.

“We all set out with good intentions to look well groomed and well-presented but the pressures of juggling a career and running a home take over and all our good intentions fall by the wayside,” said a spokeswoman for Simple.

“The findings found that most women get relatively quickly in the morning, few females have the luxury of spending hours gazing in the mirror whilst applying make-up,” she added.

Here in the Her.ie offices we’re all for looking good, but when it comes to a choice between fifteen extra minutes of beauty sleep and a full face of perfect make-up, we’re inclined to hit the snooze button (multiple times).

What do you think? Do you start off the week with good intentions or do you believe that sleep/getting to work on time is more important?
