Do you believe in love at first sight? We figured we may as well ask you because a new survey has revealed that a whopping 72 per cent of us hopeless romantics believe that love can happen as soon as you lay your eyes on that special someone.
According to the survey, which was carried out by TheLoveBuggy.com, only 28 per cent of the people surveyed said they didn’t believe love at first sight was possible.
However while 72 per cent of people believed in the phenomenon, nine out of ten said they had never experienced it. Unsurprisingly 96 per cent of us have felt some intense lust at first sight, with the vast majority of these people being of the male variety, proving that men are visual creatures.
So if love doesn’t happen to us instantly, how long does it take for us to fall head over heels for someone? 41 per cent of people said that it takes at least a few weeks to start getting those warm, fuzzy feelings while 55 per said believe it takes months rather than days. We have to say our hearts went out to the 4 per cent of people who think it takes years before you start feeling the love.
Are you a hopeless romantic or a hopeless realist when it comes to love at first sight?
“The concept of love at first sight has been around ever since Adam first copped eyes on Eve’s shiny apple,” said a spokesman for TheLoveBuggy.com.
“It’s fair to say we’ve been surprised by the overwhelmingly positive response to our survey. It seems most of us still believe that it’s possible to fall for a stranger just by sight, even if the vast majority of us have never had the experience,” the spokesman added.
Well, what do you think? Do you believe in love at first sight?
