UPDATED: Major Disruption to Services In And Out of Heuston Station

The lines are not expected to reopen until after the morning rush hour.


Train services into Heuston Station will be disrupted this morning as Gardaí investigate a fatality.

Irish Rail have announced that commuter services will operate between Sallins, Co Kildare and Heuston only. It has been reported that the part of the train line between Sallins and Newbridge will be closed at the request of gardaí.

There will be no commuter services between Portlaoise and Sallins. Meanwhile, intercity services from Kerry, Limerick, Cork, Galway and Westport will terminate in Kildare and there will be road transfers to Heuston station.

The 6.30am train from Carlow to Heuston was cancelled while all other Waterford services will stop in Athy where there will also be road transfers available. The lines are not expected to reopen until after rush hour.

Irish Rail have stated that commuters coming from counties Laois and Kildare will need to make alternative travel arrangements and have apologized for any inconvenience caused.

UPDATE: The lines have since reopened. It has been reported that a body was found on the line at approximately 11pm last night.
