The National Lottery has confirmed that an online player in Mayo won the staggering €17,008,295 jackpot in last Wednesday's Lotto draw (27 August).
A history-making win, the lucky punter is now Ireland’s third-largest Lotto jackpot winner ever.
The winning numbers from the Wednesday night draw were 2, 6, 20, 22, 26, 39, while the bonus was 5.
Mayo's latest win cements the county as perhaps Ireland's luckiest.
This is because both the highest and third-highest Lotto jackpots in Irish history were won in Mayo.
In January 2022, Laura's XL on Hopkins Road in Castlebar, Mayo, sold a winning ticket worth €19,060,800, the biggest ever Irish Lotto jackpot win.
The second-highest, meanwhile, came from Carlow. This ticket, worth €18,963,441, was sold at Hegartys on Staplestown Road in 2008.
A notification and an email have been sent to this week's winning online player in Mayo, the National Lottery said in a statement.
The lucky punter is advised to make contact with the National Lottery prize claims team by calling 1800 666 222 or emailing [email protected] in order to arrange the collection of their prize.
Darragh O’Dwyer, National Lottery spokesperson, stated: “We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that the third largest Lotto jackpot ever, an eye-watering €17,008,295, has been won by an online player in Mayo.
"While the county might still be waiting for Sam to come home, it has returned two of the three largest Lotto jackpot wins since 1988.
"This marks the seventh Lotto jackpot win of 2025, following a roll that began after a €4,038,682 win in Tramore, Co. Waterford back in April. And with this win, we now celebrate our 17th National Lottery millionaire of the year!
"As well as our jackpot winner, in total over 93,000 players won prizes in the Lotto and Lotto Plus draws.”
