‘He lost his battle’ Ailbhe Garrihy’s beloved dog Bobby has died

In a heartbreaking Instagram post this morning, Ailbhe Garrihy shared the news that her beloved dog Bobby has died.

Ailbhe said that Bobby had an awful accident and put up a fight for life over the last few days. Sadly, he lost his battle and as all dog owners will know, it's a desperately sad time for Ailbhe and her family. Ailbhe thanked Bobby for bringing love, laughter and cuddles over the past three years and spoke of how he "lit up their lives" every single day. Her post reads:

"After an awful accident, Bobby put up a fight for his life the past few days. Yesterday, he lost his battle and went to Doggy Heaven. Bob gave us an unforgettable 3 years of love, laughter and cuddles. He lit up our lives every single day. We will love and miss you forever Bob, Sleep tight xxx"

Bobby made regular appearances on Ailbhe's Instagram account and was also much loved by her sister Doireann, who lived with Ailbhe and her husband Ruaidhri up until recently. Ailbhe's followers have been expressing their sadness in comments left on the post and it's truly heartbreaking. Losing a dog, who is like a family member for so many, is terribly difficult and it can be a very tough time.
