Two Leaving Cert students have tragically passed away on a Greek Island.
Students Andrew O’Donnell (18) and Max Wall (18) died in separate incidents on the island Ios over the weekend.
Andrew reportedly went missing on Friday, June 30th. His body was then discovered near a cliff.
Max was found dead a short time later following a separate incident.
Both boys travelled to the island to celebrate the end of their exams.
Their school, St. Michael’s College, issued a statement following the harrowing events.
Both Andrew and Max were pupils at the school and completed their Leaving Cert exams last month.
The school community is in complete shock following the loss of two beloved students.
St Michael’s College said it is “a day of immense sadness”.
“Max was a constant source of positivity, encouragement, and fun for all of those around him. He was extremely popular with staff and students alike, and a fantastic supporter of our teams during the various cup campaigns (as well as a great brother to past pupil, Charlie).
“Our thoughts are with Max’s family at this awful time and with his friends who have experienced such shocking loss over the last 24 hours.
Andrew has also been remembered as a “popular” student and “a proud member of our football team”.
“Andrew was not only a popular classmate and friend, but a proud and committed member of our football team.
“He was kind to those around him, honest in all of his endeavours, and a great brother. Andrew will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.”
