Add us as a preferred source on Google »A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the disappearance of Kyran Durnin.
The eight-year-old boy was reported missing in late August, but he has not been seen alive since May 2022.
Gardaí confirmed a female has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in Garda custody.
The young boy is presumed dead.
They stated: "Gardaí investigating the disappearance and murder of Kyran Durnin (8 years) have today, Tuesday 10th December 2024, arrested a female on suspicion of murder.
"The woman is being detained under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in the East of the Country."
They officially launched a murder investigation after trying and failing to locate the young boy.
Gardaí stated:
“Despite extensive enquiries carried out by Gardaí to date, An Garda Síochána have been unable to either locate Kyran, identify any information on his current whereabouts, or any evidence that he is currently alive.
“Following enquiries to date, investigating Gardaí now believe that Kyran is missing presumed dead. A murder investigation has been commenced.”
Investigating Garda continue to appeal to any person with information.
