Podcaster Johnny Smacks has shared a health update on his newborn son, just months after welcoming him home from the hospital.
Smacks' son, JJ, was born with a rare condition and has since been under the care of doctors and nurses at Children's Health Ireland in Crumlin, Dublin.
After finally bringing his son home, Johnny and his co-star Johnny B performed a charity gig, The 2 Johnnies Big Big Family Show, on Monday night at Dublin's 3Arena to raise funds for the hospital that cared for his newborn baby.
In a video post on social media, Johnny said: "I suppose this gig came around when my son, JJ, was born, and he spent the first almost four months of his life in Crumlin Children's Hospital.
"I remember saying to my wife one day when he was in ICU, wouldn't it be great if we could do a gig and raise some money for the hospital so the parents can enjoy better things and nicer things.
"And it was a far cry from that. We knew the gig was, you know, if it was ever going to happen, it would be when we get JJ out and get him home? So we did. We managed to do that. Then we put the tickets on sale.
"Hopefully, people will support it, because every penny goes towards the Children's Health Foundation. And people did... it sold out. There are 10,000 people in the 3Arena."
Further updating fans on JJ, he added: "So he's home, he's doing well, but there are so many more kids that are in the hospitals and all around, and I suppose this one's for all of them. It's for all the parents who are in there wondering, 'God, when are we going to get home.' And I hope that the money that we raise today can help the parents, can help the nurses and doctors.
"And I think what we've done is a good thing, and it's very, very special. We're very, very proud."
