Garms 4 Gaza takes place this month
A group of Irish students are hosting a fashion show in aid of The Sameer Project, who supply emergency shelter and aid to displaced families in Gaza.
The Garms 4 Gaza event is one thing you need to add to your calendar.
The students from Grafton Academy of Fashion are hosting ‘Garms 4 Gaza’ in Hen’s Teeth on May 31st.
Speaking to Her.ie, they said: “Being in Grafton Academy of Fashion design, we’re all constantly surrounded by such inspiring new designers, it’s such a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
“We were looking for an exciting opportunity to showcase everyone’s designs.”
A group of students, led by Chloe Cooke, Saoirse Fitzpatrick, and Cornelia McNamara, came together with the goal to organise an event that everyone could get involved in.
“We had all been talking about organising a fundraiser for Palestinian aid for a while, a cause that we are all incredibly passionate about, and saw this as the perfect opportunity to create an evening of style and solidarity.
“We knew that so many Irish businesses also stand with Palestine, and we decided to reach out to as many brands and we put together a raffle with the goal to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charity, The Sameer Project.”
The team behind the project will be donating funds from the event to The Sameer Project.
The Sameer Project is a donations-based aid initiative, led by Palestinians in the diaspora. They work to supply emergency shelter and aid to displaced families in Gaza.
A raffle will take place on the night with prizes from Loose Canon, Dubray Books, Pellador, and Aoife Cawley.
The event will take place at Hen’s Teeth on May 31st. Tickets will cost €15.
