An Irish man has tragically died following an incident in Greece over the weekend.
According to reports, the young man from Co Laois died after drowning in the Balkan nation.
The 22-year-old, from Cullohill – who is yet to be named – is reported to have been found unresponsive in a swimming pool by his friends in the country.
It is believed that he had recently arrived in Greece to work for one month before the tragic incident occurred.
RTÉ reports that the man was from a well-known family who own a “prominent business” in Urlingford, Co Kilkenny.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has said that it was aware of this tragic case and is providing “consular assistance” to the family.
