Ciaran Carragher, a father-of-two originally from Co Monaghan died on Saturday, June 15, in Perth where he had been living.
The Castleblayney man was remembered by his loved ones as a 'real, genuine lad' who is 'deeply regretted and sadly missed' by his wife Fa and his children Padraic and Maya.
A former GAA player, tributes were paid to his former team Cremartin GFC, who also organised a GoFundMe page to support his family as they prepare to travel to Australia.
Almost €70,000 has been raised so far, donated by friends, family and those further afield.
In a statement posted online, Cremartin Shamrocks GAA said: "Our former player, Ciaran Carragher died in Perth, Australia on Saturday 15th June 2024.
"As a club and community we offer our thoughts, prayers and support to Ciaran’s entire family here in Ireland and in Australia.
"As a practical expression of this, following requests from several people in our community this GoFundMe page is set up to support the family as they prepare to travel to Australia to celebrate Ciaran’s funeral."
Monaghan GAA also paid their respects to Mr Carragher and his family, saying: "At times like this the extended GAA community rallies together and we urge all Gaels to donate whatever you can to support and assist the Carragher Family."
Mourners also commented on the social media post, sending their condolences to the Carragher family.
"Condolences to all the family members he was a great lad. RIP", said one commenter.
Another added: "Absolutely heartbreaking thinking of all the Carragher family and family circle and friends at this time. May Ciarans gentle soul Rest in Peace."
