Instagram Shut Down Mum’s Account Over This ‘Inappropriate’ Photo

A baby blogger who posted a photo of her daughter on Instagram, has had her account shut down after the site claimed the picture was ‘inappropriate’.

Courtney Adamo, from North London, regularly posts pictures of her children on her boutique blog, and chose to share a snap of 18-month old daughter Marlow revealing her belly in wellies.

The next day the mum received an email from Instagram stating the image was inappropriate and it had been removed. Annoyed by the decision, Courtney chose to repost the photo, resulting in the social network disabling her account.

Courtney blogged her shock at Instagram’s actions, writing:

I never, ever, ever would have thought that posting this photo of Marlow would lead to this. Instagram has deleted four years of my family photos and memories.’

Following an online backlash, Instagram reactivated her account. A spokesman for the site said:

‘We try hard to find a good balance between allowing people to express themselves creatively and having policies in place to protect young children.

‘This is one reason why our guidelines put limitations on nudity, but we recognize that we don’t always get it right. In this case, we made a mistake and have since restored the account.’
