Despite the fact that Nelly Furtardo is still very firmly in her yummy mummy years, she has just admitted that she feels likes a veteran of the music scene.
The Irish Independent reports that the Canadian singer, who burst onto the music scene back in 2000 with her debut album Woah Nelly!, has said that she was reminded of her age when she worked with Michael Angelakos, the frontman of US band Passion Pit.
“He was on his keyboards and he turned around and said, ‘Whoa Nelly! was my favourite album when I was 10 years old,’” said Nelly, speaking to The New Paper.
“But it made me feel like a veteran too. And the trend keeps on repeating itself. I keep meeting other artistes who’ll tell me that they remember going to my concerts when they were really young,” added Nelly.
Nelly says she feels like a “veteran.”
Nelly, who is only a mere 33 years old, also revealed that she doesn’t feel like her music can be pigeon-holed.
“I don’t see my music as fitting into the North American pop sensibility that much. I think of it internationally. I want my music to be more classic,” she said.
“I do like what’s one the radio now but I always need to sound like myself, so that the truth comes out. It doesn’t matter if it sounds like what’s going on in contemporary pop culture,” she added.
Well Nelly, you may feel like you’re getting old and that you’re a veteran of the industry, but if it’s any consolation, you don’t look a day over 25 girl.
